Pack recruits take NIKE Camp by storm

Two of NC State's four verbal commitments were at the NIKE Training Camp in Clemson, S.C., last weekend — wide receiver Steven Howard of Olympic High in Charlotte and defensive back Chris Culliver of Garner, N.C., High.


Howard was probably the bigger name of the two in recruiting circles. He established himself as one of the better receivers in the state of North Carolina as a junior when he had 49 receptions for 748 yards and eight touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder did not disappoint Rivals.com recruiting experts Mike Farrell and J.C. Shurbutt.


"Steven Howard was a solid wide receiver prospect," Shurbutt said. "He looked the part and performed well in the one-on ones. Howard was about like we expected."
