Alabama offers Knoxville star

Catholic High School athlete Harrison Smith is one of the most coveted prospects in the Volunteer state for the 2007 class. Smith, 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, has received 12 scholarship offers to date with Alabama becoming the latest.

"Coach (Sparky) Woods and I talked yesterday and he told me that I had an Alabama offer. That was pretty cool and I had been expecting an offer. I knew that they were looking at me hard and recruiting me the same way," Smith said. "Coach Woods said he wants me to talk to the defensive back coach because they like me as a safety which is what I prefer to play. So I'm going to talk to him soon. Also, I'm going to make another trip down there to see the campus and coaches again.

"I went down earlier this summer and had a nice time. I liked the campus and got the chance to watch them practice which was cool. They were working hard and I met the coaches who were all good guys.

"Alabama is one of the schools I'm looking seriously at."
