Bruins offer linebacker

The UCLA Bruins would like to land a ready for primetime linebacker out of the class of 2007.

The Bruin staff is currently looking at a lot of tape and evaluating players who fit the UCLA profile.

The Bruins recently offered a player right out of their own backyard.

The player is running back/linebacker Malcolm Smith (6-2, 215, 4.44) from Woodland Hills, Calif., Taft.

"I have received a lot of new offers since we spoke last," Smith said. "I kind of narrowed things down some."
