Wells: I'm the best corner in Texas

When Rivals.com released its national top 100 list, Texas Longhorn commitments Curtis Brown (No.36) of Gilmer and Ben Wells (No.69) of Beaumont Ozen were listed side-by-side as the top two defensive back prospects from the Lone Star State.

On Sunday at the Texas one-day camp in Austin, both players were able to match-up with some of the top prospects in the country in a battle that only proved that both players are every bit as good as their hype surrounding them suggests.

For Wells, the camp was an opportunity to make a claim for being the state's top pure cornerback.

"The one thing that I wanted to do while I was there was prove to everyone that I'm the best cornerback in the state of Texas," Wells, who ran consecutive 4.52 and 4.48 times in the 40-yard dash, said. "I felt like I did that (on Sunday). I was the best cornerback there. I proved it to everyone."

According to Wells, if there was any doubt about his position in the pecking order at cornerback, it was dismissed after the beginning of one-on-one drills.
