No redshirt for McDaniel
It won't be easy for a true freshman wide receiver to see much playing time this season. With eight receivers already on scholarship, moving up the depth chart enough to get into the rotation will be a difficult task. With that in mind, taking a redshirt season might make sense for a rookie wideout, but that isn't in the cards for Damon McDaniel if he has his way.
"I'm trying to come in and make an early impact," McDaniel told Warchant.com. "I want to prepare myself to play right away. I've been working hard enough where I think I should be able to have a chance to prove myself."
While difficult, contributing as a freshman receiver isn't out of the question. Last season, Rod Owens, Greg Carr and Fred Rouse all saw significant playing time. In fact, Carr was arguably the 'Noles' top receiver in 2005 and led the ACC in receiving touchdowns with nine.
