USC lands four-star DB

It is a bit of the rich getting richer as the USC Trojans picked up the verbal commitment from arguably the best safety prospect in west when Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian four-star Marshall Jones (6-0, 185, 4.5) pledged to Pete Carroll earlier today (June 19, 2006).

"That was the plan," Oaks Christian coach Bill Redell said when asked if Jones committed to USC. "He went down there today with his Mom and Dad to meet with Pete Carroll, Steve Sarkisian and whoever else they meet for those things at noon."

Jones fits the profile of a USC football player. He plays the game with purpose, swagger and attitude.

After talking to Redell it isn't a secret why Jones was one of the most highly recruited defensive backs in the west

"Marshall is John Lynch with speed," Redell said. "He will knock your block off."
