Northwestern offers Alabama DE

It's a long way from Mountain Brook, Ala., to Evanston, Ill., but for defensive end/linebacker Drew Traylor, the trip from the heart of Dixie to the Midwest was well worth it because he is returning home with a scholarship offer from Northwestern.

Traylor first became interested in Northwestern after a couple of his friends from Alabama decided to go to the school. But he really became intrigued by the football program after the Cats pulled off a big upset on national television a couple years ago.

Traylor has logged quite a few miles during this spring and summer recruiting season. He has now visited five of the seven schools that have offered him: Northwestern, Purdue, Clemson, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Kentucky and Duke are the two schools on his offer list that he hasn't seen in person, and he's also been on campus at Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee.
