Colbert impressed with Patterson

How impressive has incoming freshman wide-out Travon Patterson been at the seven-on-sevenworkouts this summer?


Enough so to have former USC standout Keary Colbert raving about him.


"Everyone knows he's blessed with tremendous speed, but he's actually very polished for being so fast coming out of high school," Colbert said after the drills on Thursday. "He gets out of his breaks nicely and catches the ball well."


Reluctantly, Colbert admitted, "You know, he's a lot more polished than I was when I came in."


But don't worry about all the praise going to Patterson's head; he has a good grasp of what it's going to take to be successful at the next level. "The game is so much faster and it seems like the DBs know what you're doing before you do it," Patterson explained. "I need to work on reading zones and getting more familiar with the plays and routes."
