Decision looming for four-star safety
More and more top prospects are choosing to end their recruitment early with a commitment before the start of their senior season. In fact, 42 players in the Rivals100 have already made their college choice and several more are planning to do so this summer including Mobile (Ala.) Davidson safety Michael McNeil.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound McNeil visited Alabama earlier this summer and plans trips to Florida State and Auburn over the next few weeks.
"I'll probably go to Florida State the first or second week of July," said McNeil. "Coach Andrews just came back from vacation. I might stay down there for a day or two.
"I'm going to Auburn for their camp on July 15. I'm just going to hang out and spend time with coach Muschamp and coach Willis.
McNeil's grandfather, former NFL All-Pro receiver Clifton McNeil, will accompany his grandson on the visits.
"I know my grandfather wants me to wait but I've been looking at a certain amount of teams really hard and they've been showing me a lot of love early lately," said McNeil. "They've got me ready to make my decision early."
