Marcus Ball wants to make immediate impact
When the dust settled on national signing day, Florida State finished with the nation's No. 3 ranked recruiting class. From that 30-member class, Marcus Ball was the one player everybody had pegged for prep school or junior college. At one time, Rivals.com rated the Stephenson High School standout as the No. 1 linebacker in the country but his ranking dropped a few notches because nobody figured he would qualify.
When he made his commitment to Florida State on ESPNews back on January 31st, Ball confidently said he would be at Florida State this fall. At the time, very few people believed it was possible, but he hit the books, improved his test score and is now a full-fledged Seminole.
Since arriving on campus a couple weeks ago, the former Rivals100 linebacker has been soaking it all in and says he couldn't be happier. He's reminded every day of how he defied the odds since he has a good view of Doak Campbell Stadium from his new dorm room in Burt Reynolds Hall.
"My backdoor has a view," Ball said. "I'm calling my mother and my brothers every night and telling them, 'it's beautiful out here.' It's just a blessing to be out here and it's a dream come true. Most people said I wasn't expected to come here."
