Paris star talks about latest in recruiting

Three-star Paris, Ky., prospect Chase Dumphord raised some eyebrows recently when a quote attributed to him suggested he is determined to leave home to play college football.

Not so fast, he now says.

"I've never lost interest in the state schools," said Dumphord, a 6-foot-4, 313-pound offensive lineman who is rated the No. 6 player in the Bluegrass State by Rivals.com. "I'm definitely still interested in Kentucky and Louisville, really everybody who has offered me a scholarship.

"I've got high interest in Kentucky. It's so close to home that I have to think about it. I've thought about getting away, but there's also a lot of good things about playing close to home, being close to your family and friends where they can come see you play."

Dumphord's recruitment can currently be classified in the "wide open" category.

"I'm just keeping an open mind to everybody," he said. "Until the end of the season, you probably won't hear anything about my leaders or my favorites. I'm taking all five visits before I do anything. I'm sure about that."
