Aztecs first to offer Escondido receiver
The ASR pinpointed Darrell Catchings as one of the top local prospects back in February, shortly after signing day for the Class of 2006. The Aztecs were also impressed with the 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver from Escondido, Calif. SDSU was the first to extend a scholarship offer.
"I was pretty about it because I didn't think I'd get one that early," Catchings said of his early offer from the Aztecs. "They said that I would have a pretty good chance of playing early and I'd be a key addition to their team. They have been sending me a lot of text messages."
Although San Diego State was the first to offer, Oregon State currently has the lead for his signature. The Beavers have also extended a written scholarship offer.
"I have a lot of interest in Oregon State," Catchings expressed. "They have a good program and it just seems like it would be a good place for me to play. They like to throw the football a lot there."
