Practice Insider: Timmons - One-Man Wrecking Crew


On Saturday, Lawrence Timmons put on a show.



The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker was all over the field. During the special teams portion of practice, the junior from Florence, South Carolina blocked a punt and a field goal. A little later during board drills, he picked up freshman tight end Brandon Warren and slammed him to the ground. That play, had his defensive teammates cheering with approval and linebackers coach Kevin Steele giving out high-fives. To top the day off, he recorded a quarterback sack, his third in two days, during the short 11-on-11 drill.




Just about everybody that follows Florida State football closely knows all about Timmons and what he is capable of on the football field. However, since he spent the last two seasons backing up first rounder Ernie Sims, very few people outside of Leon County know he can be every bit as good, if not better, than his former mentor.
