Picture perfect photo day Saturday for Dawgs
Buckle up. Lets go. Saturday afternoon was 2006 photo day at the UW, fresh off day five of "acclimation" - today was Washington's first day in full pads, their practice beginning at 9 a.m. Officials were present to create the excitement of "game-time mentality." Tyrone Willingham believes experience is a valuable tool, that it's a mistake not to use experience to your advantage.
Optimism for the 2006 season is running high, and it seems to be infectious. The crowd may have been a little smaller than last year's, or perhaps those standing in Isaiah Stanback's autograph just got in - and out of line earlier. No matter, It was a beautiful day to meet and greet this years Washington football team, and the usual cast of characters - from Captain Husky to Harry the Husky not to mention the UW band and cheerleaders - were all there.
One of the keys for the Huskies in 2006 will be the word "communication." It is very important to how they will act and react to each moment, and is going on at all times.
He used the National Champion Husky volleyball team as an example of how tight-knit they are, and likened their success, in part to their communication skills.
The first week of practice has proved interesting, with some battles, "some excellent battles - some of the most competitive" have been between young linebacker's E.J. Savannah, and Chris Stevens. Also, "freshman Donald Butler shown wonderful things."
