Offense inconsistent in final fall scrimmage

Saturday's scrimmage inside Reser Stadium in front of several hundred spectators was anything but pretty. But that's to be expected when starters like Matt Moore, Yvenson Bernard, Joe Newton and Sammie Stroughter are held out.


"The starters have had a very good camp," explained coach Mike Riley. "We knew exactly where they were. So we wanted to give the guys behind them ample opportunity today."


That left Sean Canfield quarterbacking the first-string offense, while Lyle Moevao ran the second team offense. The two, however, didn't fare very well, combining to complete only 7-of-26 passes.
