Diehl has the Hokies on top

Virginia Tech added a commitment from Florida linebacker Hunter Ovens this week, but with his possible departure via the Major League Baseball draft next June it seems the Hokies may be in the hunt for another linebacker. One of the top players on their list is Duncan, S.C., Byrnes prospect Chad Diehl.


"I'd say if Clemson offers it would be between Clemson and Virginia Tech," Diehl stated. "I like the fact that both of those schools have shown the most interest in me.


"I like Bud Foster a lot. He's a real good guy that has been there for 12 years. He obviously knows his football and has a good personality. I also like the fact he pushed hard to get me an offer and they are my first one. The only thing is, I haven't been up there for a visit. I need to check it out, I hear it's a small town and that's fine with me."
