Practice Insider: That's a wrap on two-a-days
On a muggy and wet Saturday night, the Seminole football team gathered inside of Doak Campbell for a controlled scrimmage. Unlike the prior scrimmages, Saturday was more of a walk-through designed to simulate game situations the team might face in the season opener at Miami. For the first and second team units, there was no hard hitting, no tackling and it was a shorter practice than usual.
"We didn't have any tackling with our ones and our twos," head coach Bobby Bowden said. "We tried to make sure that they knew when to substitute, where to line up, and that the kicking team was ready, the field goal team was ready, and the punting team was ready. That was the main thing we were trying to do. I guess you can call that a rehearsal more than a scrimmage."
