Angleton junior high on the Horns

D.J. Monroe is fast. Really fast. The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder zipped up and down the field as a sophomore for the Wildcats playing in the defensive backfield as well as receiver.

Monroe earned first team all-district in 24-4A at receiver scoring six touchdowns as well as second team in the secondary after registering 86 tackles, six forced fumbles and two interceptions. Newly hired Angleton head coach Finnis Vanover was pleased with what he saw of Monroe in their first scrimmage.

The 5-9, 165-pounder is not shy about naming a favorite college team and lists Texas, Purdue, Iowa and Kansas State as programs that have his interest.
