Charlotte in the running for Neysmith

Tony Neysmith is a matchup problem.

Anytime you put a 6-foot-5-inch frame in the backcourt there's bound to be some matchup problems at times, but you can almost guarantee it when that frame is running your team at point guard.

Charlotte's coaches hope to expose that matchup in the near future and last Wednesday they took a step toward making that a reality when Neysmith visited Charlotte on an unofficial visit.

NinerReport: So what time did you get to Charlotte last Wednesday?

Tony Neysmith: We got there around 11 a.m. and left around 4 p.m. or so. We just walked around the school and they showed me the dorms. I talked to a lot of coaches.

NR: So you liked your visit to Charlotte overall?

TN: Oh yeah I had a good time.

NR: What other schools are involved?

TN: Oklahoma, Charlotte, Virginia Tech, and a few others.

NR: Do you have a timetable for a decision?

TN: Yeah probably in the next couple of weeks.

NR: Are you leaning any certain way?

TN: Not right now.

NR: What's the attraction to Charlotte?

TN: I didn't know a lot about Charlotte before I went up there and they were telling me about all of the 20-win seasons. I thought the school was real nice and I liked the coaches.

NR: So the visit exceeded your expectations?

TN: Oh yes. I talked to them about their style of play and they were telling me about how they give their guards freedom in the offense.

NR: So you're narrowing things down now and you didn't know a lot about Charlotte before last week, do they have a legitimate shot?

TN: Definitely they do. I had a good time on my visit.
