Sunday Update: What's Next for Shula?

A disappointing Saturday in Tuscaloosa gave way to a gray and dreary Sunday as head coach Mike Shula addressed the media regarding where the program will go next.

"Yesterday was a tough day for all of us," Shula said. "Being 6-6 is hard to swallow and none of us ever wanted that. We've been in some close games and haven't done the things it took to win the football games. Like I said last night, 6-6 is a disappointment, we're not satisfied with it and we're going to evaluate our program on every level and come up with decisions on how we're going to improve this football team. We've got a lot of young players and a bright future and those guys all played their hearts out yesterday so that's what we're going to focus on."

"We felt like we had things back on track last year and that's what made this season so disappointing. But we had a lot of good things happen with some young guys that are going to be the keys to this football team down the line and they're going to be the foundation for this team as we move forward."

As for this week, Shula said the team will begin preparing for the off-season while waiting to see if they can manage to land an invite to a bowl game.
