NU Notes: Nicks may get the call at right tackle
Since injuring his ankle in the Texas A&M game on Nov. 11, sophomore Nebraska offensive lineman Matt Slauson hasn't been able to practice.
On Tuesday, Slauson walked off the practice field in no pads and his status for Friday's Colorado game is very much in doubt.
When asked what his status was for Friday, Slauson said it's hard saying right now.
"I don't know yet," Slauson said. "My ankle is a little sore right now, so we'll see how tomorrow goes with the rehab and stuff."
Slauson, along with senior Greg Austin (knee) both look doubtful for the CU game and there's really no sense of risking them on Friday if it hurts their status for the Big 12 Championship game in Kansas City on Dec. 2.
NU head coach Bill Callahan said on Tuesday that if Slauson does not play against the Buffalos, junior Carl Nicks will most likely get the start in his place at right tackle.
"Carl Nicks will be able to step up in there," Callahan said. "He's had an excellent week of practice. He's played and Lydon Murtha's played. We hope that Matt (Slauson) is ready to go, but we'll see what happens."
