Hard work pays off for Little

In the road Greg Little traveled toward a college football career, he passed an important mile marker on Sept. 1. That's when rain-soaked Hillside High School outlasted Eastern Alamance 27-21 and Little showed off his off-season work spent adding extra agility to his already powerful 6-foot-2, 214-pound frame.

Little rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored twice in that game, returning to the offensive backfield despite his desire to play wide receiver. As Hillside pounded its way to the win, coach Ray Harrison saw his standout start to flash a few east-west moves to go with a north-south game.

"I think he improved mostly with footwork," Harrison said. "His agility, he can cut on a dime. That's not easy to do at his size."
