Hokies an early favorite for 2009 RB?

The Hokies are getting a jump on the 2008 recruiting class now, but one player they'll definitely keep an eye on in 2009 is Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown running back Sterling Phifer. The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder ran for 1,100 yards this season helping his team to an 8-2 season.

"He had 1,100 yards and six touchdowns on the year," Landstown head coach Steve Cantor said. "He's a very hardnosed player for us that came up big when our focus shifted to the running game after Percy Harvin and Damon McDaniel left.
