Prospects help North win in S.C. game

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- Multiple Division I-A prospects, including Clemson verbal commitment Chad Diehl, shined for the North squad as it posted a 24-0 victory against the South in the 59th annual South Carolina Automobile Dealers North-South All-Star game Saturday at Brooks Stadium on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.

Diehl, from Duncan's Byrnes High School, led a North defense that surrendered only 64 yards of total offense with a co-team high five tackles and one sack. Diehl received team defensive MVP honors for his performance.

Gaffney quarterback Malcolm Long concluded an impressive week of work by taking home offensive MVP honors for the North squad. Long finished 9-of-19 for 125 yards passing with a touchdown and rushed eight times for 34 yards.

North Charleston Fort Dorchester defensive end Carlos Dunlap, the state's top overall prospect according to Rivals.com, won team defensive MVP honors for the South.

Irmo Dutch Fork running back Rashad Counts was the South's offensive MVP. Counts looked very quick and hard to tackle at times, despite finishing with just 29 yards on 10 carries.
