Dawgs in the Dome
Georgia head coach Mark Richt is happy his team gets to play in the Georgia Dome, and he believes his players and the Bulldog fans are just as pleased. "Any time you are playing in the Georgia Dome something really good usually happens to the team," said Richt. "We are excited to be here."
Since arriving in Athens in 2001, Richt has taken the Dawgs to the dome on four occasions-three SEC Championship games and one Sugar Bowl-and has won twice.
"We have been here a few times and we enjoy playing here," said Richt. "I know that the Georgia fans really like being here too. So in some ways it is like home."
Georgia will face Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A bowl Saturday night in Atlanta, and the Dawgs seem fired up for the event. A year ago at this time, the team was preparing for another game in the dome, but unlike this year, they had to practice in the cold and rain at a local high school. This year, however, both teams are practicing in the dome.
