Spring outlook:

A wide-open competition with the graduation of Quinn. Every snap counts and every scrimmage situation is important. Clausen, Frazer and Jones will experience their first spring drills. Fundamentals and technique take on even greater importance. For the first time in several years, there's legitimate competition at the quarterback position.


Positives:

One of the best quarterback mentors in the country in Charlie Weis. Plenty of talent from which to choose: Clausen arrived in January as the No. 1-rated prospect in the country; Jones was the No. 2-rated dual-threat quarterback and top prospect from Illinois in 2006; and Frazer was the No. 9-ranked pro-style quarterback in 2006.
