Owens is early favorite for state's best

Muskogee, Okla. - OK, so maybe it's no surprise that Muskogee Rougher wide receiver Jameel Owens has been named SoonerScoop.com's junior of the year. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver with speed and hands that would make former Oklahoma star Mark Clayton envious has been a known quantity since a freshman season rarely seen at the 6A level.

The talented receiver has been a favorite of his coaching staff since that point in time as was indicated by one Muskogee assistant who couldn't help gushing over Owens even as several other stars, like Derek Burton and Jontae Bumpus, were closer to their own signing days.
