Dawgs defense shines during first scrimmage

After a lackluster Friday night practice the Georgia Bulldog defense impressed head coach Mark Richt and defensive coordinator Willie Martinez with their intensity during Saturday's scrimmage.

"I thought the overall speed, effort, and running after the ball defensively was the best it has been since spring started. The gang tackling mentality I thought was really there for the first time," said Richt of the defense Saturday.

Overall coach Richt thinks this defense is much faster all-around compared to the 2006 unit and that bodes well heading into 2007.

"I think we are a quicker team than last year," said Richt.
