Scrimmage Notes: Defense and Special Teams

With most of last year's starters returning for the 2007 season, many fans are anxious to see what a year more experience will do for the team. On Saturday, Arizona Football fans caught their first glimpse of their new team.

Here are some notes on special teams and from the defensive side of the ball:

  • After impressing during last season's fall camp, Nate Ness fell out of sight, as he redshirted in 2007. Now that Ness is back on the field regularly, look for him to get some serious consideration for the starting safety spot. During the scrimmage, Ness recorded one pass deflection in the end zone, which would have resulted in a touchdown.

  • Marquis Hundley was in pads and looked very strong in the secondary. During the scrimmage Hundley swatted away one pass in limited playing time.
