With spring practice now concluded, it is time to take a look at the players that stood out or disappointed, the players that made the most improvement, and take a look at what areas need the most attention in fall camp if the 2007 Gamecocks are to challenge for the SEC Eastern Division title.
Eric Norwood and Cory Boyd.
Without a doubt, the player that caused the Gamecock defense the most problems this spring was defensive end Eric Norwood. The 6-foot-1, 264-pound sophomore wreaked havoc in every scrimmage situation and elevated his level of play to become an every down player on the defensive line. After earning several freshman All-American honors, Norwood appears poised to have a big sophomore campaign, not only as a pass rushing specialist, but also as a run-stopper.
