Post-spring anaylsis: Secondary

Spring football has always been a time for coaching staffs to take their first crack at solving whatever question marks surround their team as the next season draws nearer. For Mississippi State defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson, there were plenty of questions to be answered, but perhaps no area of the Bulldogs' defense, a unit that saw 13 lettermen from last year's squad lost to graduation, entered the spring with more question marks thatn the Bulldogs' secondary.

Without the contributions of long-time starters Jeramie Johnson and David Heard, Johnson looked to insert fresh faces at both cornerback positions while also shifting two key returnees into different roles with next year's defense. The results exceeded even Johnson's expectations.
