UGASports TV: Boykin shows blazing speed

UGASports.com has spent a lot of time out of the road as usual and one stop we made was at Fayette County High School. That is home to Georgia commitment Brandon Boykin. Boykin is an athlete that was named the top defensive back at the Athens NIKE Camp a couple weeks ago. He showed a lot of ability there, but he showed us a lot of speed as he blazed through the 40-yard dash. Check out this video of Boykin testing in the 40, shuttle, and 3-cone drill. You will not be disappointed Dawg fans.

Prospect: Brandon Boykin

High School: Fayette County (Fayetteville, Ga.)

Class: 2008

Position: Defensive Back (Corner)

Vitals: 5-foot-11, 172-pounds

Offers: Duke, Georgia, and Ole Miss

Favorites: Committed to Georgia in April

The Skinny: Boykin is an athlete that stars in track and football. He spends most of the time at QB in high school, but showed a lot of natural talent at corner at the NIKE Camp last month. He has the speed, the ability to open his hips, he can change direction very well, has good ball skills, and good recovery speed. He has emerged as one of the top corners in Georgia. He needs to work on the little things like the back peddle, but that will come in time with reps.

We saw the speed and agility as he blazed through the DB drills in Athens at the NIKE Camp, but this time we put a watch on him. He again showed speed, good lateral movement, and a good burst. He had high goals in these tests and he performed very well.

We set up a day to test Boykin with Head Coach Tommy Webb at Fayette County and Boykins tested very well. You can see him run the 40-yard dash, the short shuttle, and the 3-cone drill right here.

You will not be disappointed.
