USC jumps in the mix with Ga. linebacker

Roswell (Ga,) linebacker Ebele Okakpu was one of the most productive defensive players in the Peach State last season, racking 121 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Teams have taken notice, as his offer list is now approaching double digits.

"Louisville, Purdue, Indiana, Cal, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Vandy, UCF and Troy are the schools that have offered me," the 6-foo-2, 205-pound Okakpu said. "South Carolina and Ole Miss are my newest offers."

While the Gamecocks recently stepped forward with an offer, Okakpu is familiar with the their program.

"I went to their junior day back in March, and I liked it a lot," he said. "I got to sit in on the linebacker meeting with coach (Tyrone) Nix, and I got to talk with coach (Steve) Spurrier for a little while. I like the stadium and the campus, too. I'm probably going to go back there this summer for another visit."
