Two selected to Nagurski watch list

Jeremy Jones and Quintin Demps were two of those players that were named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award. The duo are among 49 other nominees for the trophy, which is awarded to the top defensive player in college football, and is sponsored by the Charlotte (N.C.) Touchdown Club.

"It's a great accomplishment to be named with some of these guys," Jones said. "It's a great accomplishment because it's not just me, its Quintin (as well). To me this is one of college football's greatest honors."

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) All-America Committee will select the Bronko Nagurski winner from the association's 11-man All-America defensive team in November. (The FWAA All-America committee with the help of the schools and conferences developed the award watch list.)

The winner will be announced Dec. 3 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte. Ohio State junior linebacker James Laurinaitis was last year's recipient.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded in tribute of the legendary Nagurski, a former All-America lineman at Minnesota in 1927-29 and a Chicago Bears star in the 1930s.
