Newcomers impressing returning Cats

While quarterback Josh Freeman, defensive end Rob Jackson and outside linebacker Ian Campbell look forward to fall workouts, each took a minute in the hallways of the Wyndham's St. Anthony Hotel to discuss some of the Kansas State newcomers that have turned heads so far.

At least, each player talked about those newcomers whose names they could remember.

"I don't know them all," Campbell said on Wednesday. "I'm still learning many guys' names. I'll be like, 'Sorry, man, I don't know your name yet.' We have like 20-some new guys. We have some guys that are going to be able to help."

There were a few newcomers the three veterans mentioned: Chris Patterson, Mike Abana, Ernie Pierce, and Lamark Brown.

Perhaps not by coincidence, those players were listed alongside offensive lineman Alesana Alesana, safety Gary Chandler, and offensive linemen Ben Liu as the top seven newcomers to watch by Powercat Illustrated in July.
