Opponent Preview: South Carolina

Game No. 8 of the season will see Tennessee welcome back an old nemesis to Neyland Stadium as Steve Spurrier leads South Carolina into Knoxville. Any visit from Spurrier is always a bit of an event, but this year's trip could have more impact on the SEC East race than any previous meeting since the Gamecocks moved into the conference more than a decade ago.

Spurrier is starting his third season in Columbia, and he has certainly changed things for the better in the South Carolina program, but he hasn't really upset the pecking order in the SEC as of yet.

After consecutive winning seasons and a Liberty Bowl trip last year, it's safe to say that Spurrier has the Gamecocks headed in the right direction, but it remains to be seen if that road can lead all the way to the top of the SEC.
