Focus on Special Teams

Sunday afternoon marked exactly a week of Fall Camp practice for the Cal football team. Sunday also marked the first lengthy emphasis on the explosive special teams play that the Bears' exploited to their full advantage last season. Working on punt return and kick off coverage for over five periods in practice, Cal gave a small glimpse of what fans should expect from special teams coach Pete Alamar's unit this season, which of course includes the sensational DeSean Jackson.

Will He or Won't He?

One of the hush-hush discussions surrounding Fall Ball this season is the status of Jackson, a 2006 All-American kick returner. Jackson's skills as a punt returner are certainly well known, having recorded a NCAA high last season of four returns for touchdowns. Jackson's skills as a returner are so prevalent that at one point last season, respected ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit named Jackson the most explosive player in the Pac-10.
