Practice report: Camp halfway done

The Missouri Tigers were back at it on Wednesday for a two-and-a-half hour workout that marks the halfway point of fall camp. This was Missouri's 12th practice (Tuesday's second workout was cancelled) and 13 more remain before the team heads to St. Louis for the season opener against Illinois. As always, PowerMizzou.com is your source for the news:

*Tony Temple was back in action and running full speed during drills. Early on in run drills, he made a pretty spin move and outran the entire defense to the corner of the end zone. I've said it before and I will continue to say it: Temple has a gear that no one else in the Tiger backfield can reach.

*Earl Goldsmith drew big cheers from his offensive teammates as he headed up the middle and put a forearm shiver to Justin Garrett that knocked the safety to the ground.

*Gilbert Moye is getting some looks with the second team. Best-case scenario for Moye is that he is the Tigers' fifth safety. Gary Pinkel said the team needs to go two deep at every position and then have that extra player (5th safety, 11th offensive lineman, 3rd QB, etc) that would move up in case of an injury. It looks as if Moye has a shot to be that player. I think that would mean he would travel, and would be ready to go if someone went down, but probably would not be slated to play at this point.

*Play of the Day: Temple ran up the middle and Brock Christopher put a huge hit on him. The play was good not only because of the hit, but even more so because Temple bounced right back up afterwards. He is fully back from the bruised knee and ready to go.

*Missouri will practice again at 8:15 on Thursday morning.
