Mangino sees room for improvement

Coach Mark Mangino felt good during good at Tuesday afternoon's press conference after KU's 52-7 win over Central Michigan. While Kansas surpassed most people's expectations, Mangino still detailed a few areas of improvement for his team.

"Our interior defensive line, we have to do a better job of putting our pads down and play with leverage," Mangino said. "In the secondary we have to squeeze and narrow some zone lanes for our pass coverage."

Mangino was pleased with the physical game the defense played, but he hopes in the future his players do a better job of finishing off plays.

"We missed too many tackles, a lot of times, it would be the third or fourth player until we got them down."

On the offensive side of the ball, Mangino was impressed the way Reesing managed the game and the way the offensive lineman got off the line. Mangino also noted on the receivers play.

"I was really pleased with the pitch and catch," he said. "Our receivers didn't drop a pass all game. That is the way you want to start out a season."
