Leading the way
Of all the questions facing the Kansas State Wildcats as the 2007 season neared, the unknown state of the offensive lined loomed the largest. One game into the schedule, it's clear the Wildcats' offensive line is still a work in progress, but the fears of disarray are unfounded.
"On the line we graded out pretty well. From understanding what they were going to try to do, we didn't have very many busts at all as far as mental errors," K-State coach Ron Prince said of his line's performance in a 23-13 loss at Auburn. "We were on top of it from a scheme standpoint. We had some guys that were terrific defensive players that we went against."
The line of junior college transfer left tackle Alesana Alesana, sophomore left guard Brock Unruh, junior center Jordan Bedore, junior right guard Gerard Spexarth and sophomore right tackle Nick Stringer held their own against a fast and physical Auburn defense while a hostile crowd of 86,439 roared at them with every snap.
