Broomfield continues solid play

Mississippi State went into the 2008 recruiting campaign looking for pure cover corners and picked up an early commitment from Corey Broomfield to fill that need. Palm Bay (Fla.) Bayside coach Mike Davis talks about his star player, Broomfield's season-opening performance last week and his thoughts on the MSU-LSU matchup last week.

"Corey, to me, he's a playmaker," Davis began. "He's a kid that can do a lot of different things. We use him all over the field really. He returns punts. He plays receiver. He's a great cover corner.

"Last year he ended up with close to 70 tackles as well as three interceptions. He had five blocked kicks last year. As a matter of fact we opened the season last week and he blocked a field goal and a PAT coming around the edge.
