Game Notes: UA offense clicks against NAU

The UA looked like a much better team on Saturday in its 45-24 victory over NAU at Arizona Stadium. Here's our notebook on everything surrounding the UA's win.

  • On defense, Johnathan Turner and Louis Holmes got the start at defensive end. Corey Hall started at nickelback.

  • Colin Baxter was listed on the depth chart as the backup center but got the start at left guard and ran with the first-team offense throughout the game.

  • Antoine Cason had a rare 41-yard field goal return on the 1st quarter after the 57-yard field goal attempt by NAU kicker Robbie Dehave fell way short and into Cason's hands.

  • It didn't take Cason long to get his first touchdown as a punt returner. The senior, in his second career punt return, had a 70-yard return for a TD in the second quarter to put the UA up 14-0.

"That was the biggest play of the day," UA head coach Mike Stoops said. "He showed explosiveness and some nice moves. I hope now people won't question his quickness."

"It was fun to get the first one," Cason said. "It was great."
