Burkhead a man of many talents

Plano (TX) High's Rex Burkhead is perhaps the very definition of the term "athlete" when it comes to recruiting. The 5-foot-10, 186 pound junior lines up at quarterback, tailback, fullback, wide receiver, safety and linebacker at various times for his high school team.

In fact, Burkhead's athleticism allowed him to become the first-ever freshman to play on the varsity football team at Plano, a high school with an enrollment of 5,122. If that weren't enough, he also suited up for the state-champion basketball team as a ninth grader as well.

"His first game on varsity as a freshman he came in at safety in a game against Southlake Carroll," said Burkhead's father Rick. "He had an interception against the kid that's now at Alabama (Greg McElroy).
