Terps-Rutgers scouting report

The most challenging game remaining on Maryland's schedule, at least on paper, couldn't be coming at a more difficult time for the Terrapins.

Maryland travels to Piscataway, N.J., to face Rutgers on Saturday and in addition to facing the 10th-ranked Scarlet Knights, the Terps will have to prove they've shed the emotional baggage from last week's stunning 31-24 overtime loss to Wake Forest.

Neither task will be easy, but it is the challenge Maryland faces as it looks to avoid its first three game losing streak since 2004 and just the second in coach Ralph Friedgen's seven years.

Series: Maryland leads 4-3 but the two teams haven't met since Oct. 10, 1942, a 27-13 Terps win.

What You Need To Know About Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights' rise from punching bag to power was completed with last season's 11-2 Texas Bowl championship season. Rutgers finished ranked 12th in the nation and was a triple overtime loss at West Virginia in the regular season finale away from going to the Orange Bowl.
