Tuesday Notebook: New strategy for young receivers
Steve Spurrier is going to try a new strategy to get South Carolina's young crop of wide receivers ready to play - watch tapes of other teams.
Just one true freshman wide receiver has more than two receptions - Dion Lecorn with six. Tight end Weslye Saunders has eight catches for 106 yards. Fullback Patrick DiMarco has three catches, one more than WR Mark Barnes.
"We're going to show them some tapes today of some other teams, and other teams' wide receivers and how they run fast and how they get open," Spurrier said. "Our guys don't understand the speed of the game. (They've) got to get there quickly. They just sort of idle down in here. You guys have watched our pass protection. It's got to happen quickly."
