Top Ten Tiders

Each Monday, BamaOnline's Matt Scalici lists his top 10 Tide performers. In effect, the list serves as a week-to-week ranking of Alabama's most valuable players.

1. DJ Hall Last Week: 1
The Top Tider continues to hold onto his spot this week after an 11-reception, 140-yard performance against Ole Miss, his most productive outing of the season. Hall's skills as both a receiver and a physical downfield blocker make him the most valuable player on the Tide offense.

2. Antoine Caldwell Last Week: 4
After stepping in for right guard Marlon Davis against Houston, Caldwell continued to showcase his versatility by sliding over to the left guard spot to fill in for Justin Britt. Caldwell didn't miss a beat while playing his fourth different position this season.

3. Darren Mustin Last Week: 3
Mustin's seven tackle performance against Ole Miss showed the gritty determination of the former walk-on and provided some key stops against the Rebel running attack. Mustin's leadership along the defensive front continues to be key to the Tide's success.

4. Ezekial Knight Last Week: 7
Knight has gone from being a newcomer at the outside linebacker position to being a consistent threat that opponents must gameplan for. Knight's four tackle performance against Ole Miss included a stop in the backfield and a game-changing interception which the former wide out returned 28 yards.

5. Rashad Johnson Last Week: 8
The former walk-on at safety has proven invaluable to the Tide defense this season leading Alabama in tackles against Ole Miss with nine. Johnson also recorded a sack (his first of the season) and an interception (his third this year).

6. Terry Grant Last Week: 6
Despite seeing his carries reduced, Grant has remained productive for the Tide racking up 62 yards on 16 carries against the Rebels including a late touchdown. Grant needs just two carries to tie the freshman record for rushing attempts.

7. Simeon Castille Last Week: 9
The senior cornerback has begun to ratchet up his game in recent weeks, hauling in key interceptions in the last two games and getting his hands on a couple more passes against the Rebels. Last season, Tennessee week marked Castille's breakout game. Could he be on pace to have another huge game against the Vols?

8. Glen Coffee Last Week: 4
A couple of costly fumbles hurt Coffee's stock this week but the sophomore running back continues to provide solid and consistent play between the tackles for the Tide offense. Coffee's 12-carry, 41-yard performance also included two catches for 21 yards and his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.

9. Javier Arenas Last Week: 7
After seeing opposing teams kick away from him the last several weeks, Arenas finally got his hands on some returnable kicks and punts against Ole Miss and made the most of his opportunity returning two punts for 71 yards and four kickoffs for 93 yards.

10. Wallace Gilberry Last Week: 8
After being contained for most of the year, Gilberry finally broke loose against Houston and continued his hot streak in Oxford where he racked up two sacks, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Gilberry's re-emergence as an effective pass rusher couldn't come at a better time for the Tide.

SIX ON THE FRINGE: QB John Parker Wilson, RB Roy Upchurch, LB Prince Hall, OT Andre Smith, LB Rolando McClain, CB Kareem Jackson
