Is four-star linebacker Hale down to two?

Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale (6-foot-3, 235 pounds, 4.5 seconds) had narrowed his list to four schools late last month.

After giving his Virginia official visit a glowing review, Hale was prepared to go on his second official visit; a trip to Michigan.

At the last minute, he canceled the visit to Ann Arbor and eliminated the Wolverines from consideration.

"Cameron Saddler and I were scheduled to visit Michigan this weekend," said Hale. "Earlier in the week, we heard that Coach Carr was going to retire. There were other things in play but that made it final. We canceled the visit. I am not considering Michigan as a finalist now."

"I am not totally ruling out Ohio State but I haven't spoken to them in weeks. They have stayed in touch with my coach though," Hale continued. "The two schools that I am considering right now are Virginia and West Virginia."

Hale and Saddler visited Virginia together on November 3, were scheduled to visit Michigan last weekend, and have a December 1 official visit to West Virginia planned.
