Early Enrollee Feature: Jackson Q&A
UGASports.com has put together this 2008 commitment update to give you the opportunity to learn more about the recruit and more about the actual person. We have put together twelve questions that he answers as the recruit and ten questions that he answers as himself. Get to know future UGA running back Dontavius Jackson.
What is your current size and do you have a target weight for your arrival to Georgia?
"Right now I am about 185-pounds. Since my injury, it went down from about 200-pounds. I would like to gain about 5-pounds before I get, but I know they will put weight on me when I get there."
What was your favorite part of the recruiting process?
"My favorite part was when I took my official visits. I got to visit schools, see how things are there, spend the weekend there, meet the players and things like that."
What was the least favorite part about the recruiting process?
"It gets real stressful - when you start off, you have a lot of schools involved and it can get crazy. I was getting a lot of calls and text messages and that was real stressful."
What number would you like to wear at Georgia?
"I would like to keep #8. There is a chance I could get it, but I will not know until I get there."
How strong was your relationship with your recruiting coach?
"Me and Coach Garner are real close. We talk every week and we talk about things outside of football. He always messes with me about my girlfriend and stuff - he is real cool and we are real strong. I love Coach Garner."
Did you read any recruiting websites during the process?
"Oh yeah, I would always check on Rivals. Not every day, but probably once a week."
What was the biggest reason you chose Georgia?
"The number one reason was because of their business school. Combine that with the football, the players, the coaches and the recruiting class, it just felt great for me. The culture there and the academics were great and I felt at home."
