Weekend Visitors Confirmed

Michigan State will not have a lot of prospect on campus this weekend, but the players that will be on campus are important tones. The Spartans are looking to put the finish touches on the class of 2008 and they are looking to address a few key positions. This weekend's visitors could go a long way toward doing that.

SpartanMag.com has been working hard to track down the latest recruiting info for Michigan State fans. Last night we were able to catch up with three players that will be on campus either this week or next. The three players could go along way toward filling out the class of 2008.

  • OL Rhonne Sanderson of Tampa Plant High School in Florida

Sanderson is a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive line prospect that has seen his stock shoot-up the last few weeks. We spoke with him last night and he had the following to say.

"I will be visiting Michigan State this weekend. We leave tomorrow. Coach Roushar saw my film while he was at the coach's clinic and he came and saw me. I was not sure which school I was going to visit this weekend, Michigan State or Georgia Tech, but Michigan State offered and that made the decision."

Sanderson will visit East Lansing this weekend and then travel to Tallahassee next weekend to check out the Seminoles. Sanderson indicated that he grew up a FSU fan and if they do offer they will be tough to beat.

"I grew up a fan, yes sir, he said. They have told me that of they do offer and I come there that I will likely have to play as a true freshman because several returning OL might not be able to play due to being suspended the first few games due to the cheating incident."

While early playing time is something players usually want, burning a potential red-shirt due to having to fill in while other players are suspended is something to consider.

The Seminoles are actually hosting Ohio OL Zebrie Sanders this weekend. Sanders is arguably the top uncommitted OL in the nation for the class of 2008. What he decides to do could impact what happens with Sanderson.

Sanderson stock has really picked up the last month and he now holds offers from Michigan State, South Florida, Toledo, Ball State, FIU and FAU. Sanderson was a 1st Team All-County, 1sta team All-SunCoast and a 2nd Team All-State selection this fall for Plant High School.

  • LB David Rolf of Piqua High School in Ohio

Earlier this week SpartanMag.com told posters on the Underground Bunker to keep an eye on Rolf. It looks like the Spartans are keeping more than an eye on him.

We received corresponded from Rolf's father that indicated that not only had the Spartans been in -touch, but a scholarship offers and an official visit have been extended.

Head Coach Mark Dantonio and Defensive Line Coach Ted Gill visited Rolf yesterday and they are now planning on coming to East Lansing this weekend.

Rolf has a solid list of offers the now includes the Spartans, Oregon, Utah, Vanderbilt, Air Force and a host of MAC teams. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Rolf is rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com

Rolf starred on both sides of the ball this past fall for Piqua High School. He had 117 tackles on the season including 28 TFL's. On offense he caught 30 passes for 540-yards and scored 6 touchdowns. Rolf was named Southwest Ohio Defensive Player of the Year.

  • LB Will Fleming of Akron Hoban High School in Ohio

Fleming is a player tat SpartanMag.com has been keeping in contact with for several months and for good measure. We saw Fleming at the Spartan summer camp and he not only had a solid performance in the drills, but also had the type of frame to easily fill out into a linebacker.

We caught up with Fleming last night and he told us the following

"Coach (Pat)Narduzzi came to see me yesterday and I have spoken with Coach Dantonio. They want me to come up there for a visit next weekend, the 25th. They told me they would not invite me up if they did not intend on offering me."

Fleming also talked about his other options.

"Miami of Ohio offered me and wants me to visit. I like them a lot of MAC schools assumed that if I was going to go to the MAC I would go to Akron because of my dad. I appreciate the fact that Miami continued to recruit me. I am also looking at Boise State (visited) and Michigan State"

Fleming is rated a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com and the #49 player in Ohio for the class of 2008. He is current playing basketball for Hoban and has helped lead his team to an impressive start on the hardwood. His team is currently 9-2 and Fleming has recorded multiple double-double on the season already.
