Florida DB has family at UGA
Tallahassee Lincoln High School produces top recruits year after year and 2009 will be no different. Jawanza Starling will head the class and he already has an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs amongst others. Starling actually has family playing in Athens, so what does that mean for UGA?
We caught up with his mother and head football coach to see what they had to say about their son, how his family ties to Athens could play into his decision and more.
The first question Bulldog fans want to know the answer to is, does Jawanza have a relationship with Georgia cornerback Bryan Evans and will he have an influence on his decision?
Mrs. Pat Starling said, "yes, they stay in touch," she said. "That (Bryan Evans) is my sister's child and Bryan gives Jawanza advice on how to prepare himself for football and what to do in certain situations. They don't really discuss Georgia or anything like that yet."
They may not talk about UGA yet, but the fact that Evans is playing for the Dawgs has led the Tallahassee native to Athens on more than one occasion.
"Yes, he has been to Georgia, " said Mrs. Starling. "He has gone to a couple of games there to see Bryan play."
The University of Georgia is just one of the schools to jump on the 6-foot-2, 195-pound Sunshine State safety.
Coach Collins of Tallahassee Lincoln said," he has been offered by Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Southern Cal, Auburn, Iowa, Illinois and more. He has about 20 offers so far."
